What You Will Need To Make This Dairy-Free Pumpkin Spice Latte

  • Milk: To keep this dairy-free & vegan, use your favorite non-dairy milk. I like to use Oat Milk for this recipe. (You can always substitute regular milk if you prefer)
  • Espresso: You’ll need two shots of espresso or a half cup of your strongest coffee! Try pour-over coffee if you’re looking for something extra strong!
  • Pumpkin Puree: For that delicious pumpkin flavor, you will need to use a couple of tablespoons of pumpkin puree. Make sure to buy 100% organic canned pumpkin puree for the best results. (The consistency of homemade pumpkin puree varies greatly depending on how it is made.)
  • Maple Syrup: Just a small amount of maple syrup is needed to sweeten this pumpkin spice latte. Feel free to add more to your liking!
  • Vanilla Extract: The vanilla is subtle but adds depth to the flavor of this creamy latte.
  • Pumpkin Spice: You can easily find pumpkin spice at your local grocery store, or mix together cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and all spice to make your own at home!

Optional Toppings:

  • Whipped Cream: Of course, we need to top this delicious latte with whipped cream! I like to use coconut whipped cream, but you can use whatever whipped cream you like!
  • Cinnamon: Sprinkle cinnamon over the whipped cream and you have not only a picture-perfect, but also an even more delicious pumpkin spice latte!
  • Cacao Nibs: Because, um, chocolate! Sprinkle cacao nibs on last and your drink is now out of this world!

How to Make a Pumpkin Spice Latte

Making a Pumpkin Spice Latte at home is the best! It is quick, easy, and tastes WAY better than Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte — trust me, I did a taste test to make sure! All you need to do is prepare your coffee like normal, whether that is espresso or a very strong brew, and combine all the ingredients into a blender. You’ll blend until it is smooth and you can enjoy as is or pour it over ice for an Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte!

Want To Enjoy Your PSL Hot? Here’s how to make a hot pumpkin spice latte:

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, add the non-dairy milk and bring it to a simmer. Add the pumpkin puree, maple syrup, and spices. Whisk to combine. Be sure to whisk continuously until the ingredients are fully combined and the mixture is smooth.
  2. Add in the espresso (or coffee) and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Taste and adjust the flavor by adding more sweetener, spices, or espresso as desired. Pour into your favorite mug and enjoy!

Tips to Make the Best Dairy-Free Pumpkin Spice Latte

  • Oat milk is the best non-dairy milk to use for this recipe as it has the closest consistency to regular milk than any other non-dairy milk. The oat milk helps to make this pumpkin spice latte creamy with the perfect frothy top. You can make your own oat milk in minutes with my super easy  DIY Oat Milk recipe.
  • Maple Syrup is the best sweetener to use as it pairs perfectly with the pumpkin spice! You can also use date syrup or agave nectar.
  • If you do not have pumpkin spice, you can simply use cinnamon. Or, you can make your own pumpkin spice using a mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and nutmeg.
  • If you do not have a blender you can combine the ingredients in a medium-sized bowl and whisk until smooth. (blender works best to get the perfect consistency)

How To Store Your PSL and Enjoy Later

You can make a large batch of this PSL recipe and enjoy it throughout the week. Store the drink in an airtight mason jar for up to 1 week. Separation of the ingredients is normal, just be sure to give the jar a good shake before serving the drink. If you initially make the drink warm, make sure to allow it to cool completely before storing it in the refrigerator.

How to Store Left Over Pumpkin Puree

You can store leftover pumpkin puree in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will last in the fridge for up to a week. You can also freeze the pumpkin in a small ziplock bag or ice cream tray and it will last up to 3 months.

I love this dairy-free option and especially your suggestion to add cacao nibs (which I love!). Your cookbook suggested to add sea moss to coffee, so I tried that with this recipe and it awesome–thank you 🙂
