Ingredients

  • Fresh green beans: They should also be cut and cleaned before cooking. If you don’t want to cut them yourself, you can purchase them precut at the grocery store.
  • Olive oil: A little goes a long way in this recipe!
  • Garlic cloves: Mince the garlic before adding it to the green beans. Fresh garlic is best but if you don’t have that, you can use garlic powder.
  • Seasoning: The simple duo of salt and freshly ground black pepper will do.
  • Lemon wedges: Serve it on each plate not just for presentation but for a refreshing citrus spritz of lemon juice with every bite. Garnish with lemon zest to enhance the presentation.

How to Make Air Fryer Green Beans

  1. Preheat the air fryer for 3-5 minutes to 380°F.
  2. Trim the stem ends from the green beans. Transfer the green beans to a large bowl and season with salt, pepper, minced garlic, and olive oil. Toss to combine.
  3. Arrange the green beans in a single layer in the air fryer. Some overlap is okay, but do not pile layers of green beans into the air fryer. (Work in batches if needed)
  4. Air fry the green beans for 8-10 minutes or until crisp-tender, shaking the basket halfway through.
  5. Transfer the green beans to a serving bowl and squeeze a bit of lemon onto the green beans. Enjoy!

Tips

  • Completely dry the veggies before adding oil or you could end up with soggy green beans. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer so the heat circulates and it cooks evenly. You may have to cook in batches, depending on the size of your air fryer.
  • Shake the air fryer basket to ensure everything cooks evenly. Or use tongs to flip the green beans.
  • The total time to cook depends on the model of your air fryer. Monitor them as they cook for the best results.
  • These are best enjoyed fresh out of the air fryer so prepare them last if you are making a full meal.

Recipe Variations

  • Parmesan: Halfway through cooking, take out the air fryer basket and sprinkle the green beans with parmesan cheese. They will have a delightful crunch that can substitute fries.
  • Bacon: Top air fryer green beans with bacon crumbles for a savory, salty side dish.
  • Sliced Almonds: Top with sliced almonds for an added crunch!
  • Spicy: Instead of olive oil, use chili oil. Garnish the cooked air fryer green beans with chili flakes and sesame seeds.
