I’ve been making my own granola cereal for quite some time now, mostly because it’s hard to find a tasty gluten-free cereal in the grocery store.
Whether you eat gluten-free or not, this recipe is SO GOOD!! Made with oats, almonds, honey, and cranberries this granola is sweet, filling, and nutrient-rich!
Making granola at home is incredibly easy! Since I’ve started making my own granola cereal, I’ve never purchased store-bought cereal again—and why should I!? This recipe calls for very few ingredients, ones that you most likely already have at home. It is also healthy and packed with tons of protein, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals from the honey, oats, and almonds. AND it’s perfectly sweetened with agave and cranberries. What’s not to love?
Ingredients You Need To Make This Gluten-Free Honey Almond Granola Recipe
Rolled oats: make sure they are gluten-free like Bob’s Red Mills Gluten Free Oats (if necessary)
Nuts: Shaved Almonds and Hulled Sunflower Seeds
Honey & Agave: to provide perfect, mouthwatering sweetness
Coconut oil: helps bind the ingredients,
Spices: Cinnamon, Ginger, Nutmeg, Sea Salt, Vanilla Extract
Dried Fruit: I love using dried cranberries but you can use whatever dried fruits you like. Dried Mango and apricot are also tasty options
How to make Honey Almond Granola
First, mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl. I like to start with the dry ingredients first and then add the liquid ingredients. Make sure to mix well so that all the oats are coated in the liquid ingredients.
Then, transfer the mixture to a baking sheet and spread into a smooth, even layer. In my video (below), I ran out of parchment paper. While parchment paper is not necessary, it does make for an easier clean up. It also makes it easier to transfer the oatmeal into an airtight container once it is finished. I usually just grab opposite ends of the parchment paper and can pour it directly into my mason jar, then throw away the parchment paper—super easy!
Bake the granola for 15 minutes at 325 degrees F. Then, remove the granola from the oven and stir. This step helps ensure even cooking and helps so that the granola does not burn at the bottom. Don’t skip this step unless you want dry, burnt granola.
After stirring the granola, put it back in the oven for an additional 10 minutes. Once this time has passed, remove the granola from the oven and allow it to cool for 10 minutes. Do not stir the granola during this ten minutes. As it is cooling, the granola is binding and creating those tasty granola clusters that we love.
After the granola is cooled, add the dried cranberries and mix well. Now you can transfer the granola to an airtight container. This granola can easily last for at least 2 weeks on the counter.
All Done!
Now you have a tasty, healthy Honey Almond Granola cereal that you can enjoy for breakfast or as a snack. I love adding my granola to my acai bowls; it provides such a delicious crunch!
