Cottage Cheese Wrap

This wrap has been all over my timeline for the last few weeks so I decided to give it a try! After some trial and error, I figured out the best way to make it so that it turns out perfectly every time! It’s such an easy wrap to make and made with simple ingredients. With about 25 grams of protein per wrap, it’s a great way to add more protein to your meal!

Ingredients You Need

  • Cottage Cheese- You can use low fat or full fat cottage cheese. Just be sure to use quality cottage cheese for the best results. Some cottage cheeses can be watery and have extra additives –the stuff we don’t like!
  • Eggs- You can use two eggs or use egg whites, both work well. Using egg whites makes the egg-flavor of the wrap less noticable
  • Spices and Garlic- The spices and garlic are totally optional but help amp up the flavor of the wrap. I use salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and a couple of fresh garlic cloves. Smoked paprika, dried oregano, turmeric, or cajun seasoning are also good options!

Optional Add-ins To Boost The Nutrient Content

  • Hemp Seeds: Add hemp seeds to the batter to provide more omega-3s and protein!
  • Ground Flaxseed: Ground flaxseeds provide fiber and protein, but can also help with binding the ingredients!

Step 4: Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the wrap sets. Then, remove it from the oven and let it cool completely before using.

Tips So Your Wrap Comes Out Perfect

  • Use parchment paper NOT wax paper
  • I recommend spreading a bit of oil onto the parchment paper to prevent the cottage cheese wrap from sticking
  • Let the wrap cool completely before trying to remove from the paper. This will take at least 10 minutes. Allowing it to cool also helps it fully set
  • Use the entire egg or just egg whites. The “eggy” taste is more subtle with egg whites only

Fillings Options For Your Cottage Cheese Wrap

  • Breakfast Sandwich: I made a BLT with avocado and homemade pesto and it was delish! You can fill your cottage cheese wrap with sausage, bacon, or your favorite protein and add sliced tomato and lettuce for a filling breakfast sandwich.
  • Deli Wrap: Add sliced deli meat, like turkey, ham, prosciutto, or salami with cheese, lettuce, onions, peppers, and whatever fixings you like!
  • Crispy Chicken Wrap: Make crispy chicken breast in the air fryer and add it to your wrap with chipotle sauce, lettuce, avocado, and peppers!
  • BBQ Jackfruit Wrap: For a vegetarian option, try adding barbecue jackfruit, with avocado sauce, lettuce, and pickled onions!
  • Tuna or Chicken Salad Wrap: I have an avocado chicken salad recipe that I absolutely love and would be the perfect filling for this wrap. It’s creamy without mayonnaise and it’s protein and nutrient-dense.

Get as creative as you like! This wrap is the perfect bread substitute and can be used in many ways. It is pretty sturdy and holds up well to lots of fillings.

How To Make The Cottage Cheese Wrap With Egg Whites

If you prefer to skip the egg yolk, you can! Instead use 2 egg whites (1/4 cup of egg whites). Using egg whites only will help minimize the taste of the eggs in the wrap and it bakes just the same!

Common Questions

Can I use my wrap as a pizza base?

Certainly! Cook the wrap first, then add all the toppings and finish it in the oven. Bake it until the cheese is golden brown and bubbling and toppings are warmed through.

What temperature do I bake my Cottage Cheese Wrap?

Skip the high temperatures, like over 400°F because this will certainly lead to a burnt disaster (trust me, I’ve tried). Instead, bake your wrap at 350°F (180°C) for 35-45 minutes. Every oven is different so if you find your wrap is setting, let it bake a little longer (sometimes it can take up to 1 hour).

How many calories are in a cottage cheese wrap?

Each wrap without any toppings is about 260 calories (cottage cheese with 2 large eggs). This varies based on the brand of cottage cheese you use and whether you add whole eggs or egg whites.

How To Store This Cottage Cheese Wrap?

Store your cottage cheese wrap in an airtight container or large ziploc bag for up to 2 days.
