I love to start my day with a wellness juice shot, especially during cold and flu season, to give my immune system a natural boost! 🍋🌿 While buying juice shots at shops or grocery stores can cost around $3 to $5 per shot, making them at home is much more affordable—even when using all organic ingredients. Not only does it save money but also control exactly what goes into your shot, ensuring it’s free from added sugars or preservatives. Plus, prepping your own juice shots lets you adjust the flavors and potency to match your wellness needs perfectly!

I like to take one juice shot a day for a boost of energy and support my immune system, especially during the winter. The shots are strong, fiery, and oh-so good! The ginger taste is strong, but it is balanced out by the sweetness of the pineapple, making these wellness shots great for anyone to enjoy!

Here’s What You’ll Need To Make These Immune Boosting Juice Shots

  • Coconut water: Hydrates and replenishes electrolytes for energy and recovery. Make sure to read the ingredient label. Aim for coconut water without added sugar. You can also use water instead of coconut water. 
  • Pineapple: Contains bromelain, which helps reduce inflammation and supports digestion. 
  • Ginger: Packed with gingerol, which eases inflammation and helps improve gut health. 
  • Lemons: High in Vitamin C, boosy immunity and alkalizes the body. 
  • Lemongrass stalks: Rich in antioxidants, helps detox the body and fight oxidative stress. 
  • Ground turmeric: Curcumin-rich, which reduced inflammation and protects cells.
  • Black pepper: Enhances curcumin absorption, amplifying turmeric’s benefits.
  • Cayenne pepper: Boosts metabolism and improves circulation, and adds an anti-inflammatory kick.

How To Make These Wellness Shot (No Juicer Needed)

Making these shots is super easy and you only need a few things: the ingredients, a blender, and a mesh strainer or cheese cloth

  1. Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender.
  2. Blend until smooth.
  3. Strain through a fine mesh sieve or nut milk bag.
  4. Pour into shot glasses and enjoy!

That’s It! Super easy! Of course, if you have a juicer, you can use it to make your juice shots.

How To Store These Juice Shots?

Store your homemade juice shots in clean, airtight glass containers in the refrigerator and consume them within 3-5 days for optimal freshness. For longer storage, freeze them in freezer-safe containers or ice cube trays and thaw in the fridge before drinking.

How Much Juice Does This Recipe Make?

After straining the juice you should have at least 30 ounces of juice (depends on the ingredients used and how much water added). I was able to squeeze out 36 ounces of juice. After filling up my bottles for juice shots, I made larges juices and diluted them with coconut water.

What To Do With Leftover Pulp?

Add the leftover pulp to an ice tray and freeze. Toss the pulp cubes in a smoothie for extra fiber. You can also use leftover pulp in baked goods, or soups to add fiber and nutrients. You can also mix it into homemade granola or use it as a base for veggie burgers for an extra boost!

Tips For Making Your DIY Juice Shot

  • Sterilize your glass bottles before using. To sterilize glass bottles, wash them with soap and hot water, then rinse thoroughly. Next, place them in a pot of boiling water for 10 minutes or run them through a dishwasher on the hot cycle without detergent.
  • Turmeric can leave stains! It may discolor plastic items like blenders, cutting boards, skin, and nut milk bags, so try to use glass whenever you can and be sure to rinse everything right away.
  • Strain with cheesecloth is easiest. Straining through a cheesecloth is easier because it allows for a smoother separation of liquid from solids, catching finer particles that a regular strainer might miss.
  • Use Fresh Ingredients. While you can use ground turmeric for this recipe, you cannot use ground ginger. I recommend using fresh ginger only.
  • Make Large Juices. With any leftover juice, I like to make large juices that I can sip on throughout the day. These will be a mixture of the juice created and water/coconut water. The water is diluted so that the juice is more palatable and easier to sip and enjoy. (rather than a juice shot which is consumed quickly)
  • Store in a large mason jar. You don’t necessarily need little juice jars to store your juice. You can store your freshly squeezed juice in a large mason jar and keep it in the fridge. When you want to take a shot, pour 2-3 ounces in a glass and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 16 oz Coconut Water (try using one without sugar) can sub with water add extra if the mix is struggling to blend.
  • 22 oz Pineapple, cut into chunks (about 2.5 cups)
  • 6 oz Fresh Ginger
  • 2 Lemons
  • 2 Lemongrass Stalks
  • 1 tablespoon Ground Turmeric (or 6 inches fresh Turmeric)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper

Instructions

  • Place the ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth. If using a smaller blender, work in batches.
  • Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer or a nut milk bag into a measuring cup or bowl. Use a spoon or squeeze the nut milk bag to extract as much juice as possible, then discard the pulp or save for later use.
  • Pour each shot into 2-ounce servings. Store any leftover wellness shots in an airtight jar for up to 3 days.
    If making a juice (instead of juice shot) fill a 16 oz bottle 3/4ths full, then add coconut water (or regular water) on top to dilute.

  • The great thing about these wellness shots is how customizable they are—you can add, swap, or skip any ingredients to make it just right for you! I put this blend together to give a boost to immune health, but feel free to adjust it however you like.
  • I filled up my 12-pack of shot bottles and stored the extra in an airtight glass bottle. You can find these cute shot bottles in my shop if you’d like to grab some HERE! Or, you can simply keep the whole batch in one bottle and pour a shot each day.
    • I made 7 juice shots and 2 (16oz) juices! 
  • And no worries if you don’t have a juicer! This recipe works just as well with or without one. If you have a juicer, go ahead and skip the sieving step, but I made sure it’s easy to follow for those without a juicer too. 😊
