Ingredients

  • 5 tbsp Beef Gelatin Powder
  • 1 cup Steeped Hibiscus Tea ¼ cup hibiscus leaves boiled in 1.5 cup water for 20 mins
  • 40 grams Vital Collagen Protein Peptides, optional (about 2 tbsp)
  • 1 1/2 cup Fresh Squeezed Citrus Juice I use 2 grapefruits, 1 navel orange, 2 cara cara oranges

Instructions

  • Steep the Hibiscus Tea
Boil 1.5 cups of water. Add ¼ cup dried hibiscus petals and steep for 15–20 minutes. Strain and set aside 1 cup.
  • Juice the Citrus
Juice your grapefruit and oranges until you get 1½ cups of juice. Strain through mesh sieve to remove pulp for a smoother gummy texture.
  • Bloom the Gelatin
In a saucepan, add the hibiscus tea and sprinkle gelatin evenly across the surface. Let sit for 5-10 minutes to bloom (absorb liquid and swell).
  • Add Citrus Juice, Collagen. Heat & Dissolve
Pour in the citrus juice and (optional) collagen powder. Stir well and warm the mixture over low heat, stirring constantly until the gelatin is fully dissolved (don’t boil).
  • Pour Into Molds
Carefully pour the mixture into silicone molds (2 tbsp per cavity). Let cool slightly before transferring to the fridge to set.
Alternatively you can pour the mixture into a 9x9 baking dish to set and cut the gummies once they are set.
  • Chill & Set
Refrigerate for 2–3 hours, or until firm. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7–10 days.

Notes

How much Collagen to take daily

The recommended daily intake of collagen varies based on your goals:
  • General wellness & skin health: 2.5–10 grams per day
  • Joint & bone support: 10–15 grams per day
  • Muscle mass or recovery: 15–20 grams per day
Clinical studies show that 2.5–5 grams daily of hydrolyzed collagen can improve skin elasticity, hydration, and density, while 10 grams may help support joint health and bone density.
✨ Always choose high-quality collagen (like grass-fed bovine or marine collagen), and for best absorption, pair it with vitamin C, which helps your body produce collagen more efficiently.
Always consult with your healthcare provider before adding new supplements like collagen to your diet, especially if you have underlying health conditions or are taking medications.
