Homemade Ginger Ale (4-Ingredient, Naturally Sweetened)
This Homemade Ginger Ale is WAY Better than anything you'll find in stores. It's made with actual ginger (not "natural ginger flavoring") and it's void of any high fructose corn syrup or icky additives! It's an extremely effective drink, great for alleviating bloating, nausea, gas, or stomach discomfort.
1/2cupFresh Squeezed Lime Juice (3-4 limes)can sub with lemon
1/3cupRaw Honey, Agave, Maple Syrup, or Simple Syrupor to taste
To Serve
Club Soda or Sparkling Water
Ice
Lime or Lemon Wedge
Instructions
In a saucepan, combine the water with the chopped ginger. Bring to a boil, then simmer, uncovered for 10 minutes
Remove from the heat and let it steep for 15 minutes. In the meantime, prepare the sweetener. Combine fresh squeezed lime juice and honey (or agave or maple syrup).
Strain liquid through a fine mesh strainer. Use the back of a wooden spoon to press any liquid out of the ginger. Discard ginger pieces or reserve for later use (in smoothies or cooking). (You should have about 2.5 cups of the ginger liquid after straining)
Combine the ginger water and sweetener. When ready to enjoy a glass of ginger ale, give the ginger base a stir, then pour it into a glass over ice until about 2/3rds full. Top with club soda or sparkling water and give it a stir. Enjoy immediately

Notes
*I first peel and chop the ginger into large chunks, then add it to a measuring cup to make sure I have about 2 cups. Then, I chop it in the food processor to save time.
